Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The candidate should possess a university degree in business, business administration, economics, finance, or similar field.
At least five years of substantive administrative experience.
Language Requirement:  Must be fluent in the English language.  Fluency in Luganda is desirable.
A practical knowledge of business correspondence, database management, and budget preparation.
Good understanding of the public health issues related to HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, family planning, maternal and child health, gender based violence, youth, orphans and vulnerable children and women’s empowerment in Uganda are desired.
Ability to develop and maintain a range of working--level and management-level contacts on public health related topics, in government, non-governmental, and private-sector circles.
Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and coordinate well with others.
Excellent office management skills and experience are required in order to support the assigned team and the overall Health HIV/AIDS and Education Office in developing and implementing effective USAID/Uganda programs/projects, including financial and administrative skills sufficient to track the performance of implementing partners and program/project activities.
The work requires skills in the following areas: office management; administration; financial tracking; budgeting; and computers, including Word, Excel, Power Point and database software.
Exceptional verbal and writing skills, tact, and diplomacy are also required, in order to establish and maintain effective working relationships within USAID and with the public and private sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:

"The American Embassy is seeking an individual for the position of Regional Security Technician."

Basic Function of Position
Under the direct supervision of the Officer in Charge/Technical Security Officer (OIC/TSO), the incumbent conducts inspections, installations, maintenance and repairs of unclassified technical security equipment and devices.  He/she studies and makes recommendations for ways to improve the effectiveness of the security systems at the US Embassy Kampala and on occasion, provides support to other U.S. Government facilities in the AF region.

Qualifications Required

1. Education required: Completion of a two year diploma in   electronics/electrical/mechanical engineering is required.
2.  Work Experience required: Four years of hands-on field experience in major repairs and installation of electrical and heavy-duty mechanical equipment, reading and interpreting architectural and engineering (A&E) design drawings; and experience with closed circuit television, public address systems and/or vehicle arrest systems is required.

4. Knowledge required: Should have good knowledge and/or experience in installing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical and electronic systems; hydraulic and/or pneumatic equipment; in working with different types of steel, concrete and masonry wall construction, anchors and bolts. Awareness of general responsibilities of Mission agencies/offices outside of TSO section.
5. Skills and Abilities required: Ability to read blueprints and schematic diagrams of electrical and mechanical drawings; ability to use electronic test equipment; should be able to rectify problems associated with security equipment independently; ability to use MS Excel, Access and Word software and Internet search engines and ability to use special lifting equipment and/or coordination of unskilled laborers.
The nature of work may require working from a ladder, in crawl spaces, above ceiling areas and other non-office areas of a building structure.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a manual transmission car.
Must be able to frequent travel, may travel alone or as part of a regional security team on a quarterly basis or as needed.

Selection Process

Job Title: Feed The Future Coordinator (FtFC) – (3 positions)

Feed the Future is the United States Government's global hunger and food security initiative. It supports country-driven approaches to address the root causes of hunger and poverty and forge long-term solutions to chronic food insecurity and under-nutrition. These three food security positions are based in Kampala, Mbarara and Gulu as noted below.
Purpose of Position. These positions are aimed at providing technical leadership and expertise to Peace Corps’ Feed the Future Interagency Partnership.

Key Responsibilities:
• Work within Peace Corps’  FtF team to define and implement Peace Corps’ feed the future and food  security activities in assigned region.
• Coordinate with USAID/Uganda, regarding the post’s food security activities.
• Compile program reports for PC/Uganda, USAID/Uganda and PC/HQ to demonstrate the use and impact of PC/Uganda’s contributions to Feed the Future.
• Develop over 40 Volunteer work sites with partners throughout Uganda.
• Provide technical resource information and technical training and coaching to Volunteers and their counterparts, utilizing, where effective,  the Volunteer Agriculture Think Tank.
• Assist Volunteers in monitoring their work and reporting outcomes.
• Co-develop, manage and engage a Project Advisory Committee to contribute to program effectiveness..

Qualifications and Experience:
• Education: Master in Business, Agro-business, Marketing, Agriculture or related field or appropriate education and professional experience mix.
• Experience: 5 years required, 10 years is desirable, in the field of marketing and agribusiness, finance and business, agro business development.
• Peace Corps Uganda is looking for a dynamic and experience professional in agriculture/business field to fill the Feed the Future Coordinator positions. • Work within Peace Corps’  FtF team to define and implement Peace Corps’ feed the future and food  security activities in assigned region.
• Coordinate with USAID/Uganda, regarding the post’s food security activities.
• Compile program reports for PC/Uganda, USAID/Uganda and PC/HQ to demonstrate the use and impact of PC/Uganda’s contributions to Feed the Future.
• Develop over 40 Volunteer work sites with partners throughout Uganda.
• Provide technical resource information and technical training and coaching to Volunteers and their counterparts, utilizing, where effective,  the Volunteer Agriculture Think Tank.
• Assist Volunteers in monitoring their work and reporting outcomes.
• Co-develop, manage and engage a Project Advisory Committee to contribute to program effectiveness..

Qualifications and Experience:

• Education: Master in Business, Agro-business, Marketing, Agriculture or related field or appropriate education and professional experience mix.
• Experience: 5 years required, 10 years is desirable, in the field of marketing and agribusiness, finance and business, agro business development.
• Peace Corps Uganda is looking for a dynamic and experience professional in agriculture/business field to fill the Feed the Future Coordinator positions. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

1.  Education required:  Completion of both 'O' and 'A' level is required.  Completion of a university degree in business administration, liberal arts, or science is required.

Skills and Abilities required: Ability to deal effectively and discreetly with high level official, political, social and business figures is required.  Ability to use Windows based computer applications including MS Word, and Excel, and excellent typing skills is required.  Initiative, discretion and the ability to work independently is required.  Exceptional interpersonal skills, tact, sensitivity and maturity to deal comfortably with high ranking officials from both Ugandan and the U.S. is required. Occasional evening, weekend and overtime work is required.


SELECTION PROCESS

After an initial application screening, applicants will be invited to a testing process that may include a written examination and oral interviews.  The selected candidate must pass pre-employment medical and security investigations before beginning work.  The initial appointment period is one year, subject to renewal.

Normally, candidates for employment are hired at the first step of the designated pay grade.  In some instances, candidates may be hired at a higher step when exceptional qualifications or previous governmental service and pay level so warrant.  The Human Resources Officer will make the decision with the concurrence of the employing section.
