Internal Audit Manager Jobs at National Forestry Authority (NFA)

Responsibilities:

Develop and or implement an audit policy and plan according to international, national and NFA audit and accounting standards.
Ensure that the Executive Director and Board of Directors are aware of activities which should be subjected to internal audit.
Review and appraise the adequacy and effectiveness of the systems of internal controls and giving an opinion of findings to the management and audit committee of board or full board as the case may be.
Appraise the relevancy, reliability and integrity of management, financial and operating data and reports
Review the system established to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and regulations.
Review means of safeguarding assets and verifying their existence.
Appraise the economy, efficiency and effectiveness with which resources are employed.
Assess the adequacy of established systems and procedures.
Ensure that organizational financial guidelines are followed.
Provide high level advice to other officers on matters of financial management and accountability.
Determine audit priorities, work plans, staff allocation and other operational arrangements
Conduct special assignments and investigations on behalf of the board of directors and management into any matter affecting priority, interests and operating efficiency of National Forestry Authority.

Qualification and Experience:

Must have a B.COM (Accounting) or BBA (Accounting) degree from a reputable University
Must posses professional qualifications in ACCA,CPA,CIA
Must have at least 5 years experience working in an audit environment especially in a
commercially business oriented environment three(3) of which must be at senior management level
Should be highly computer literate

Internal Auditor at Promoting Equality in African Schools (PEAS)

Job Title: Internal Auditor

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.       Assist in monitoring the business function of PEAS and reporting all material finding and preparing appropriate recommendations for corrective actions. This is achieved by reviewing the system of internal controls in order to determine whether they are adequate and to ensure the following:
Assets are properly safeguarded and utilised effectively and efficiently
Financial transactions are properly recorded, summarized and reported
PEAS and its network of schools are adhering to all laws and regulations

2. The Internal Auditor is also responsible for:

Notifying the Audit & Risk Manager of internal control weaknesses
Making audit recommendations to correct these weaknesses and discussing both the problems and the solutions with the supervisor
Maintaining all financial records/documentation for all audits and reviews performed
Analysing data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, extravagance, fraud or lack of compliance with managements policies

3. Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.

4. Avoid the appearance of conflict, all requirements of the Professional Ethics regarding conflicts of interest in employment, purchasing, and other decisions, including solicitation and acceptance of gifts and favours, and submit in a timely fashion the required annual disclosure statement regarding employment and financial

5. Perform any other duties and responsibilities as required alternatives as the supervisor may find appropriate

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The applicant should be possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Professional certifications such as CPA and CIA are preferred with a minimum of level
Familiarity with IIA Standards and the IIA Code of Ethics.
At least two (2) years auditing and financial reporting/compliance with IFRS experience.
Experience in budget and financial management
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Very strong computer skills in financial software and Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Well organised, analytical and pays attention to detail
Communicates effectively in English both orally and in writing.
Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities
Flexibility, initiative and self-motivation
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
Ability to develop positive professional relationships with a range of people

NGO Jobs - Audit Manager at World Vision Uganda

Job Title:  Audit Manager

Employer: World Vision Uganda

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Planning:
Develop audit plans for World Vision office based on risk assessments and communicate the audit dates, as appropriate to management.
2. Management of the audit function:
Manage the audit programs and work practices in compliance with the Institute of Internal Auditors Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (SPPIA), the US Government Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAGAS) for US Government funding and World Vision’s financial manual internal audit policies and procedures.

3. Risk management:
Advise management on the formulation of risk management strategies and policies in all operations areas of the organization

4. Quality assurance:
Review office financial systems and report on compliance with the WVI financial policies and Generally Accepted Accounting principles and practices.

5. Report Writing:
Review work papers before reports are issued and issue reports of audit results from internal audits and special investigations carried out by the internal audit function
Provide summaries of audit results and trends to management regularly and in subsequent audits determine that audit recommendations have been tracked and implemented by management.
 6. Staff supervision and management:
Provide direction and support to audit team
Ensure effective implementation of performance management processes within the audit team
Develop a system to ensure that quality of work done by the internal auditors is regularly reviewed and appraised and corrective action taken where necessary.
Supervise internal auditors as they conduct performance and procedural audit of all office functions and projects and, when necessary participate in such audits to provide field audit leadership and appraisals.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should hold a university degree majoring in Accounting or related or  full Professional accounting qualifications such ACCA, CPA or other internationally recognized accounting qualifications
Prior auditing experience of at least five years in a recognized organization. Two of these should be at a supervisory level.
Experience in public accounting will be an added advantage.
Computer literate with excellent working knowledge of computerized accounting systems. Knowledge of Sun Systems and vision excel is essential
Possess additional certification in management of United States Government funded projects

Qualifications and Experiences:
A  master’s  Degree  in accounting and   Finance ,  Business Administration (Accounting  option ) or the  equivalent  with full Professional qualification in Accountancy  obtained from an awarding  institution  recognized by  ICPAU  and working  experience  of at least  6 years  of which 4 should be  in a position  of comparable  responsibility   in a  reputable  organization.
Membership of  ICPAU  and computer knowledge  of standard  desktop applications is requirements
Knowledge of computerized  accounting package , possession  of  CIA  and membership to the Institute  of  Internal  Auditors  -Uganda  and  IIA  will be  added  advantages.
